Rafael Van der Vaart, Real Madrid midfielder, is apparently keen on a move to Old Trafford. VdV is one of my favorite Madrid players, for the sheer fact that he's a solid, versatile player, and doesnt mind being benched occasionally. He always wants to fight for that first team spot, and he can play with anyone. He also fits the Madrid archetype of that attacking minded high-profile player. He and his wife, Sylvie, who is a broadcaster/model in his native Netherlands, are the equivalent of our Brangelina, except they're actually awesome instead of really lame. So if Real loses VdV, whom they've practically been forcing out the past few years by buying players that play each one of his positions, they lose an integral part of the team. Watch his goal against Standard de Liege in a preseason friendly. Phenomenal free kick (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVQUIcScaxY). Didn't even celebrate.
Onto my EPL standings for the season:
- Manchester United
- Arsenal
- Chelsea
- Tottenham
- Manchester City
- Everton
- Fulham
- Aston Villa
- Birmingham City
- Liverpool
- Bolton
- Stoke
- Blackburn
- Sunderland
- Newcastle
- Wolves
- West Brom
- Blackpool
- Wigan
- West Ham
